Licensed toys for the long-awaited blockbuster sci-fi film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," have been officially revealed and will be showcased on July 9-12 during the San Diego Comic-Con event, a report from IGN said.
The three "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" toys were all identified as Storm Troopers, and these toys will be sold during the San Diego Comic-Con event, according to IGN. The new toys include a 9-inch Storm Trooper constructed in a Lego set, one in a Hotwheels car, and another one in Black Series from Hasbro.
IGN said the Storm Trooper made by LEGO was created using 81 carefully selected special Lego pieces and will only be available for purchase on January 2016, while the 6-inch Black Series Storm Trooper by Hasbro priced for $25 will be for sale during the San Diego Comic-Con. Hasbro is also planning to sell the item online but in limited quantities only.
Slashgear says that these toys will hit the department stores by the end of the year and added that other "Star Wars" character toys will be revealed, such as Boba Fett, Darth Vader, R2-D2, C-3PO and Obi-wan Kenobi. Hasbro has also revealed that there will be a second wave of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" toys that will be created.
According to a related report from IGN, a neat-flip calendar apparently showed the photos of the past and present "Star Wars" characters related to the movie. For instance, in the month of May, which is the global celebration of the National Teacher's Day, Jedi Master Yoda was the cover photo. On June 21, which is Father's Day, a toy photo of both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader is captioned as "mission series." The rest of the photos were labeled as either Vintage Collection or Saga Collection.
While some of the toys will only be on display and not available for purchase during the Comic-Con, all the toys will reportedly be on sale on or before December 18, 2015, the premiere date of George Lucas' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
