Benedict Cumberbatch Baby News: Actor Welcomes a Baby Boy With Wife Sophie Hunters

Four months after the couple's wedding and a week before Father's Day, Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunters has welcomed a baby boy on June 13. According to ET, the baby boy was born one day before Queen Elizabeth II honors Benedict Cumberbatch with a CBE award for his services to the performing arts and charity.

Karon Maskill, the actor's representative, told US Weekly that the couple is delighted for the arrival of their son. "We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks," Maskill also told the press.

The couple did not reveal the name of the child, but fans on Twitter used the hashtag #CumberbatchBabyNames in coming up with the name of the child, as reported by International Business Times. Some of the names given by the fans were Elonmusk Rocketpack, Sherlock Stephen Alan Khan and a lot more. As of writing, fans are still using the hashtag and keep on proposing names for the new baby. Jimmy Kimmel also suggested some "silly baby names" to the actor while he was on the host's late-night show in February, as cited in Huffington Post.

In the previous article of Mail Online published in 2013, Cumberbatch expressed his desire to have several kids. "I was happy as an only child, but I've always wanted to be part of a bigger family. I would love to have children. Everyone wants to know when I'm going to settle down and who is going to be Mrs Cumberbatch. I can't wait to do an interview like this and just talk about my child."

Hunters' pregnancy was announced in January, two months after the pair got engaged. The child will reportedly be raised in England.
