The show was on fire - literally. The 5 Seconds of Summer's second night of concert at the Wembley Arena in London had to be cut short when Michael Clifford, the guitarist of the band, caught fire after walking into a pyrotechnic display on stage, MTV reports.
One fan was able to record a video of the incident where the 19-year-old desperately fans the smoke away with a towel.
After the freak accident, Ashton Irwin, one of the band members, announced that the show will not be pushing through.
"Michael has hurt himself so we will not be continuing the show right now," Irwin said. "Just want to say thank you so much for coming. He is OK. You guys have been the best crowd we could ask for tonight. Thank you so much."
Michael was then given immediate medical attention and the Australian musician was quick to ease their fans' worries by posting a photo of himself with half of his face wrapped in a bandage with a caption: @ Michael5SOS"What the fucks up. sorry I couldnt finish the encore, but at least I look like two face. thanks for worrying every1 x."
Calum Hood, 5SOS bassist, showed his band mate support through his Twitter post:
@Calum5SOS: No one ever wants to see your best friend in the state I saw mike backstage. He's a trooper and is ok.
Fans took to Twitter and started a worldwide trending topic #GETWELLSOONMICHAEL.
"There's been a lot of love spread around lately, thank you all so much :) All of us boys appreciate everything you do!" says Clifford, in an E! Online report. "And also thank you so much to all my friends for wishing me the best."
"Today we are playing Wembley for the 3rd time! Last night was crazy, happy my dude is OK..." tweeted 5 Seconds of Summer's drummer, Ashton Irwin, 20.
The band then flew to New Zealand and their homeland Australia for more shows and will be back to the US and Canada mid-July.
