With the constant, massive updates on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter newsfeeds, who needs the weather channel, radio announcements, or even your window to tell what season it is?
Case and point: Here are some of the trending photo shots or pegs on Instagram telling you that the sun is up, waves are calling, and the blistering wind is nudging - summer has come!
1. Hot dog legs
One of the most common shots you'd see that will tell you that it's summer: legs, legs, and even more legs. The legs are placed at the center of the frame and the ocean at the background (alternatives can be sand or benches), topped off with a pair of sunglasses here, a glass of cocktail there, or other summer accessories to add more color.
2. The wing of a plane
If you're the type who likes to go abroad or out of town on summer or during the weekend, then this photo might have already been in your camera roll or gallery.
First, cosy up to a window seat with a nice view of the airplane's wing. Second, position your camera to get a frame that includes the wing's tip and the soulful, dramatic clouds. Then click! This kind of photo documents your journey all the way to the beach and at the same time, you can use this to let everyone know that you're on a plane (without using a selfie).
3. The artsy fartsy selfie
This photo is to show people that the beach is not only the go-to place this summer. To boost your artistic side in the social media, try going or documenting (if you are already doing it) galleries or museums. The focus of your photos here is not really the art, but you as an art person or even as a culture vulture.
Paintings set as backdrop is a good way to start. Just make sure to include actual art and not just your face.
4. Using video as a filter
Instagram is no longer all about photos. You can document your summer trip with short clips of the trees along the road, you and your friends jumping in the pool, kids running around the sand, or a timelapse of people traffic.
5. The fierce group shots
Summer can never be complete without girlfriends sunbathing, groups in road trips, family outings, or night out with newly formed acquaintances. And your summer photo gallery will not be complete without photos showing whom you spent your time with. The trend today is instead of smiles, try replacing them with fierce or serious looks.
