'Ghostbusters' Reboot Cast, Updates: List of Hollywood Stars In The Comeback Movie

Famous film director Paul Feig recently revealed in his Twitter account that Chris Hemsworth will be joining the cast of the "Ghostbusters" reboot project. Hemsworth is set to play the role of the receptionist, which was Janine Melnitz's character originally played by Annie Pott. Although the actor has not confirmed the news, according to Christian Post, the tweet by Feig could just be "wishful tweeting."

During the first part of the year, it was reported that the reboot will feature an all-female cast. The new film will feature actresses Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. However, the roles that they will be playing are yet to be announced. According to Feig's interview with Entertainment Weekly, he is reportedly excited for this new project.

Amidst online criticisms, Feig also addressed the issue on the fact that he decided to create a complete reboot of the famous movie franchise rather than continuing "Ghostbusters 3." According to HuffingtonPost, he said that he does not want to go near the original movies because "they're so good." He believes that this is a better way to do the film.

Daily Mail reports that "Ghostbusters" original director Ivan Reitman and the original cast members Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson were previously set to reprise their roles for the reboot. However, Bill Murray was not recast and Reitman gave up on the project after Ramis passed away in February 2014. Feig was then offered to direct the "Ghostbusters" reboot, after which he decided to make the movie with all-female characters.

Feig is also known for other movies like "Bridesmaid" in 2011, "The Heat," which starred Melissa McCarthy in 2013, and his most recent work, "Spy," which starred Jason Statham, Jude Law and again, Melissa McCarthy. "Ghostbusters" is set to shoot this summer and will be released on July 22, 2016.
