New Guns N' Roses Album on 2016, says GNR Guitarist

GNR guitarist Richard Fortus divulges that Guns N' Roses is planning for a release of a new album on 2016, Loudwire reports.

In an interview by Stormbringer magazine about a follow up to their Chinese Democracy album, Fortus says, "We're gonna be doing stuff next year." He added that GNR is on hiatus this year but will be releasing an album and will be on tour next year.

Richard Fortus who joined Guns by replacing Paul Tobias in 2001, was a professional guitarist and session musician who had been in many previous bands including Thin Lizzy, The Eyes, Love Spit Love and The Dead Daisies. Playing lead and rhythm guitars, he served as the substitute for Slash and Izzy Stradlin.

Earlier on, GNR guitarist D.J. Ashba had also hinted that Guns N' Roses is set to return next year with an album after explaining that they are busy shifting through several materials to put together the next Guns record.

Guns N' Roses released their last album, Chinese Democracy on 2008. It is their sixth studio album that was released 15 years after their 5th album, Spaghetti Incident. During that time, the band has undergone major changes which included the replacement of all original GNR members except for front man, Axl Rose.

Hopefully, Guns can successfully pull this new album up without so much fuzz and just in time to give heavy metal music a new lease of life. It must be noted that the Guns N' Roses album, Appetite for Destruction set the stage for the entry of heavy metal into mainstream music.

According to Blabbermouth, the "Chinese Democracy" album was a major disappointment though after only selling less than 750,000 copies in spite of the hype and long wait of the fans for it. However, the album reentered the Billboard top 200 album chart in 2011 when Bestbuy, its exclusive retailer, sold the album at a discount.
