Beastie Boys' Mike D Sells New York Townhouse for $5.65M

Mike D has listed his beautifully renovated Brooklyn Townhouse for $5.65 million. Records show that the Beastie Boys' founding member and his wife, music video director Tamra Davis, purchased the 1853 Italianate townhouse for $3.1 million back in May 2011. The asking price for the place back then was $2.895 million, which is $115,000 lower than their paying price.

The four-story property features a basement that mixes 19th century details with modern features. The couple has previously opened their newly renovated home to The New York Times for a feature.

The house sits on 3,200 square feet area and has five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The living room features an original carved marble mantelpiece and a beautiful eight-pane windows which start from the floor and rise all the way to the 11-foot ceiling. The dining room opens through a trio of glass doors, which lead to an elevated deck that overlooks the landscaped backyard.

On the third floor, there are two bedrooms with a shared study with built-in desk space and also features a windowed hall bathroom with separate bath tubs and glass-enclosed shower. The bathrooms are sky-lit and have narrow wooden beams across the ceilings. The bedrooms span the full size of the home and features lean wooden beams on the ceiling and also a custom-fitted walk-in closet that is complimented with additional wardrobes.

According to Variety, the townhouse was originally meant as a two-family residence. When the couple purchased the place, the garden level was renovated to a shared home office, which is convertible to a bedroom and media room that features state-of-the-art projection system, which the couple took turns using.
