'Ghostbusters 3' Casting News: Chris Hemsworth to Play the Secretary in the Female-Led Ghostbusters 2016 Reboot

Looks like Chris Hemsworth isn't only going to save Asgard from destruction; he's also going to bust some ghouls in Sony's female-led reboot of 'Ghostbusters.' The 'Thor' star will be playing as 'our receptionist,' receiving calls of distress from ghost-stricken citizens around the neighborhood, reports Deadline. Director Paul Feig dropped the surprise on Twitter, announcing Hemsworth's character in the film. Feig, who also directed the recent blockbuster hit 'Spy,' is directing the reboot alongside Katie Dippold as his script co-writer, reports Variety.

Skid aside, Annie Potts! A new receptionist is coming, and he is hot!

Feig audaciously posted a photo of Hemsworth last June 11 and captioned it, "Our receptionist. #whoyougonnacall", reports Time.

Hemsworth's role is a supporting lead, according to Deadline, and is the male version of Annie Potts' Janine Melnitz, secretary to the original Ghostbusters. According to Deadline, a source has revealed that he will be the assistant of the ghost-busting girl group "who nobody wants to work with." Hemsworth is going to keep his manly stance, if that's the case.

Sources say that Hemsworth was offered the role early on in the film's production, but the actor allegedly thought the role was too small and turned the offer down, according to Variety. Since then, Sony reworked the script and amplified the part. With an apparently bigger role, this adds to the Hemsworth's line of future films, which includes a reboot of 'Vacation,' 'In the Heart of the Sea,' and 'The Huntsman.'

The new 'Ghostbuster' movie reveals female fatale, as this film's fighting team will consist of women instead of dudes. The upcoming reboot of the famous supernatural comedy will be starred by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, to be released July 2016, according to Time.

2016 is definitely going to be the year of 'Ghostbusters' fanatics.
