Pitches be ready, because sequel number three is up for cooking.
'Pitch Perfect' star Anna Kendrick revealed on her Instagram account that the hit musical comedy is going to hit theatres for the third time. Kendrick, 29, couldn't just help but post a winking selfie, flashing three fingers, along with the caption "Happening #3," reports People. Universal Studios confirms Pitch Perfect's return this July 21, 2017, with Kendrick co-starring once again with Rebel Wilson, says People. Despite already being graduates of Barden University, the Bella spirit still lives on.
The latest of the Pitch franchise grossed $260 million worldwide in one month, reports Variety. Director Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman of Brownstone Productions and Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment are returning to produce, although Universal Studios and Gold Circle began discussing the third film's movement the past week, when it started negotiations with Kay Cannon to return.
With the hype of the next sequel, aca-fans are surely pumped with the news, and it looks like they're not the only one.
Rebel Wilson became a little too excited as well as she tweeted, "I know I spilt the beans a little while ago, but at least now it's OFFICIAL!! PITCH PERFECT 3, July 21, 2017!!! Sing 'ahhhhh' on 3 pitches x," E! Online reports. Elizabeth banks also added, "It's on." Banks, aside from her directing debut for Pitch Perfect 2, plays the sharp-tongued acapella competition commentator Gail.
Although announcements are being made, Kendrick doesn't want to spill too much beans with the upcoming sequel. She told Time, "I'm not one to count my chickens, so I just want to see how this one does and find out if there's an appetite for that before I even think about it". Kendrick adds, "I'll drive myself crazy."
It's going to be a blast when Pitch Perfect 3 hits cinemas soon. Aca-epic!
