The 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was kicked off by the unveiling of the latest installments for games such as "Fallout" and "Doom." According to a report from cbc.ca, game publisher Bethesda Softworks unveiled the games in a 90-minute presentation.
In line with the presentation, Bethesda Game Studios Director Todd Howard reportedly declared, "I think we can all agree that tonight starts a week with E3 that is the world's best week of entertainment ever."
Meanwhile, for its part, Microsoft presented its biggest game yet, "The Last Guardian." According to verge.com, there were other games presented but most don't have specific release dates yet. These include another "Hitman" series, "Street Fighter V," "No Man's Sky," "Dreams" and "Destiny."
Not only were games the highlight of the event; other technologies connected to gaming were also presented. According to a report from miamiherald.com, Sony announced the expansion of its PlayStation Vue online television service to the Los Angeles and San Francisco area. Previously, the service was only available in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia.
Microsoft also provided a preview of its augmented reality headset called the HoloLens during the E3 conference. The presentation consisted of executives using the headset to play "Minecraft" on a coffee table. During the presentation, a special camera was used to project 3D representations, and voice-activated functions were also highlighted.
Sony, according to a report from highdefdigest.com, provided the most exciting of the technologies in the expo. The company presented its virtual reality (VR) headset for the PS4, codenamed Project Morpheus. The full presentation of the VR set of Sony would butt heads with Microsoft's HoloLens, but Sony's technology is now available for use in the latest game titles for the Playstation 4.
What differentiates Project Morpheus from HoloLens is its 1080 OLED display at a 120Hz refresh rate that can be used for multiplayer videogames. This alone, according to a report from vrfocus.com, would make this the next step in the gaming experience.
