New Platinum Game's director Yoko Taro confirmed that they are currently developing the NieR project that will come out for PlayStation 4 during the 2015 E3 press conference, IGN reported. The first NieR game was launched in 2010 that is playable for both Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. The first NieR game was developed by the now defunct Cavia. The game developer disbanded when Taro decided to leave the group in the same year.
A statement was made by Platinum Games' producer Atsushi Inaba with regards to the under-development game. He said that the newest NieR offering will provide strength in the game franchise by levering the developer's specialty, which is an action-packed style of game. The statement according to Gematsu also said that the NieR New Project will be a third person action role playing game which is a follow up to the 2010 NieR, which was a huge hit back then.
The development team is composed of producer Yosuke Saito, who is responsible for DRAGON QUEST X and NieR, director Yoko Taro, Drakengard and NieR, character design expert Akihiko Yoshida from DyDesignation Inc. which is responsible for Final Fantasy XIV and BRAVELY DEFAULT, game designer Takahisa Taura of PlatinumGames Inc. responsible for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and composer Keiichi Okabe from Monaca developer of The TEKKEN series, Drakegard, and NieR. The team is considered as an all-star cast, due to their individual accolades, and is expected to develop and produce a very highly sophisticated game.
The Square Enix produced game, which has the same producer who brought the smash and legendary Final Fantasy series including the iconic Final Fantasy VII, promises to provide updates sometime in Fall.
NieR's video teaser is also available in Square Enix's official website.
