The home of the late star of the hit sitcom "Golden Girls," Bea Arthur, is now up for sale. According to a report from la.curbed.com, after the Emmy Award-winning actress passed away in 2009, the home was owned to a trust that she named as recipient of her legacy. It is now listed in the market, the first time ever since the 1970s. It was reportedly decided that the upkeep of the property may be too pricey, which led to the house being sold for $15.995 million.
The said home was built back in 1924 and was designed by the father of the California Ranch house Cliff May. Arthur's son, Matt Saks, had major renovations done on the property while his mother was still alive.
The home features five bedrooms and six bathrooms, a dining room as well as a gourmet kitchen/great room. Other amenities include a media room, a swimming pool, a spa area and a tennis court. As the property sits on four acres of land, there are also hiking trails and waterfalls that crisscross the property.
Back in 2011, the said property was made available for lease. According to a report from variety.com, the property was renovated to have high vaulted ceilings and high beams. There is also a flagstone terrace, alongside other amenities. At the time, the property was available for rent for $60,000 a month.
Bea Arthur was an Emmy Award actress with hit shows such as "Maude" and "The Golden Girls." According to legacy.com, she also received a Tony Award for the musical "Mame." She had guest appearances in "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Malcolm in the Middle." She peacefully passed away on April 25, 2009 in her home and is survived by her son Matt and her two granddaughters.
