Career Advice: 5 Bold Moves on How To Nail that Interview

This is it - you're applying for your dream job. Your resume is ready, you've already passed the initial screening, and you're on your way to the final interview. The question is, are you ready to prove that you're a cut above the rest?

Business Insider reported these tips on how to land on your dream job using bold moves during the application process.

1. Pain letter > Cover letter

The difference between a cover and a pain letter is that the first merely focuses on your expression of interest to apply for the job along with your credentials suitable for the position, while the latter is more on identifying the company's hurdles and how you, if hired, would be able to help solve those problems.

Compared to a cover letter, a pain letter shows how much you really know about the company and your potential value as a problem solver and team player.

2. Learn how to connect with an insider.

This move is bold and gutsy, but it just might work. Try taking the backdoor and head straight to the company's management by finding someone influential on the inside and connecting with that person. If this succeeds, your application will go a long way, compared to having only a resume and cover letter.

You can try using LinkedIn, joining a professional organization that the person is involved with, or finding people as possible links between the two of you.

Just remember to know when to be aggressive, and when to be safe. Your application can also backfire if the person gets annoyed.

3. Always have a portfolio with you.

Proving that you're a good writer, architect, editor, graphic designer, or advertising person cannot be fully exhibited using your resume or cover letter. Sometimes, you have to show concrete evidences and not just your words or testimony. Include samples that can wow interviewers.

4. Show additional proof.

Other than having a portfolio, try submitting additional documents that can showcase your skills and value to the company. You can present a proposal for a new program or a creative marketing strategy. Just be careful in what you submit, because your sample reflects on your work quality as well.

5. Ask bold questions.

You've done the preparation and the other necessary steps in order for you to land that dream job. The only thing that's left is to be spontaneous and interactive during the job interview. Always remember that the interview is still a free-flowing dialogue, therefore, once in a while, try to ask questions that will reflect your intelligence, interest on the job, and overall knowledge about the company.
