'The Crow' Remake Update: Jack Huston Is No Longer Eric Draven

Unfortunately, 'Boardwalk Empire' star Jack Huston' will not be able to take the role of 'Eric Draven' in the upcoming reboot of 'The Crow' due to his busy schedule.

The actor will be out of the film due to his scheduling issues as he will appear in 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' and is also set to star in the upcoming 'Ben-Hur' remake.

Based on a report on superherohype.com, director of the film Corin Hardy said they are looking forward to starting the film in the next several weeks and to announcing their new lead. Huston isn't actually the first actor to leave the film. Luke Evans was first casted to play as Eric Draven but left earlier this year.

A report from variety.com said that the new prospects to substitute the character of Brandon Lee are Nicholas Hoult and Jack O'Connell. Also, Relativity Studios is tapping Forest Whitaker to take a role in the movie.

The original comic book 'The Crow' was created by James O'barr and was published in 1989 with a four-issue miniseries. Based on an nme.com report, "The original story was all about the protagonist, Eric Draven, a murdered rock star who is brought back to life by a supernatural bird - 'The Crow' - to be able to get revenge due to his own murder and that of his fiancé."

A film adaptation was made in 1994 by director Alex Proyas, and actor Brandon Lee starred in the film. Lee played the role of the protagonist Eric Draven. Unfortunately, however, Lee died in an accident during the film's production due to a defective prop gun. The role was recast for several sequels and was out in a short-lived television series.

The remake of 'The Crow' is currently in pre-production stage. The script was written by Cliff Dorfman. O'barr is also working for the production as a creative consultant.
