'Kingsman: the Secret Service 2' Cast Update & Release Date: Sequel in the Works? Writer Matthew Vaughn Reveals Details

"Kingsman Secret Service" earned $128 million domestically and $400 million worldwide with just around $81 million in budget. Since Fox was surprised with the result, there are rumors that the movie will have a sequel and that Matthew Vaughn, film producer, director and screenwriter, will write it.

According to Latinospost, Vaughn confirmed that there will be a sequel of "Kingsman the Secret Service" and that he will indeed be the one to write the script. "Well, the good news is that I'm writing it next door at the moment, If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it. We are doing our damndest to make that happen," Vaughn mentioned in his Yahoo interview.

Fans are wondering though if the British director will return to helm the film because he reportedly rarely returns for a sequel. Screenrant also added that after "Kick-Ass" became a cult-hit, Vaughn left the sequel in the hands of Jeff Wadlow. After revitalizing the "X-Men" movie franchise with "First Class," he also departed from the film's sequel, "Days of Future Past," to make "Kingsman."

In line with this, he said in the interview, "Well, good news! I'm in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I'll probably be breaking the rule of [me] tending not to make sequels."

Latinospost said that Vaughn reportly needs some motivation to do the sequel. "I have to feel inspired and that I'm doing something different, and pushing my boundaries. In sequels normally you're doing just more of the same. I'm trying to re-invent how to do a sequel at the moment - it's tough. The bottom line is I have to feel excited and to think I'm making something new when I make a film," he said.

Moreover, Screenrant mentioned that Vaughn also teased the possibility that the sequel will feature an American Kingsman agent, and Vaugh reportedly already has an actor in mind to play the role.

Right now, there is no definite release date and cast yet for "Kingsman: the Secret Service 2."

"Kingsman: the Secret Service" was released last January 24. The movie featured veteran actors like Oscar winners Colin Firth and Michael Caine. It also starred Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton, Sofia Boutella and Sophie Cookson.
