Netflix just released 13 episodes of "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 last week, but as early as now fans are already wondering what will happen to Alex (Laura Prepon) in Season 4. [Spoiler Alert!]
Although Season 3 was said to be drama-free, the finale episode proved to be otherwise, especially for Alex. After being paranoid that her boss wants her killed, Alex's former co-worker, who is also an assassin, attacked her. This has led fans to speculate that she could be dead.
This speculation was heightened by the fact that "Orange is the New Black" creators is known for axing their stars without first warning their viewers. However, there are also reports that Alex may not be killed off because her character is crucial to the story. According to iDigital Times, there is a possibility that Season 4 could be all about Alex trying to escape her attacker and then eventually getting him fired.
Meanwhile, Vox noted how Season 3 was different from the first two seasons of "Orange is the New Black." According to the publication, Season 3 kicked off weak but it eventually picked up its pace.
Since Season 3 was also all about faith, the third installment lacked the usual controversial encounters between the characters. Although still interesting, "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 reportedly lacked an element of suspense. Additionally, Season 3 also did not have a main villain unlike the first two seasons. Still, there was the usual conflict between inmates, and Season 3 was about Sophia and Gloria.
On the other hand, the publication noted that this new approach may have worked because it finally made the dynamics of "Orange is the New Black" clear. The series is not about inmates butting heads with another; rather, it's about the system in prison that leaves them with no choice but to turn on one another.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 is still available on Netflix.
