Simon Cowell has something to say about former One Direction member Zayn Malik. In a recent Twitter exchange between Malik and a fan, the former reportedly gave out a vague answer after he was asked if he will be reuniting with the British Band.
After the hashtag #ZaynIsComingBack trended on Twitter, One Direction member Niall Horan spoke to Rolling Stone and said that come July, the band will have a major surprise for their fans. These series of reports have led fans to speculate that indeed Malik will be returning to the group.
However, according to Hollywood Life, Malik will not return to One Direction. A source told the publication, "Zayn won't return to One Direction and certainly not before he can prove to himself and the doubters that he can forge a successful career on his own."
Cowell, meanwhile, spoke to Metro U.K to deny reports that Malik will be returning to the British band. "Well, I don't think they'll ever be over it completely because they started off as a five piece, so they're always going to miss him. You've got to dig deep and rely on each other. In a weird way, they kind of got stronger through it," he said.
Meanwhile, rumors about Malik's return to One Direction came after reports claimed that the singer wouldn't be able to release his own music until after 2017. Although his newest song "No Type" was recently leaked online, fans were devastated to know that they wouldn't be able to hear the full version anytime soon.
Mic Righteous, the artist who reportedly collaborated with Malik on his new song, explained himself afterward via Facebook. "Mental my own publisher get my music removed from my soundcloud lol, that's why I lost respect for them... I ain't signed, I can do me. It just gets deep when they gotta lie like yutes to cover tracks," he wrote.
