Game 6 of NBA 2015 Finals Slams at 23.3M Viewers - ABC's Highest Rate Ever!

ABC also wins this season.

Game 6 of this year's NBA Finals received a whopping total viewership of 23.3 million among 18-49 adults, according to Deadline. In comparison, this year's Game 6 was up 5% more in viewership among adults 19-49 than in 2013's bout between Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, which went five games. The Heat vs. Spurs game had an audience of 20.64 million, 13% less than this year's Game 6, according to Deadline.

ABC could have wished for a seventh game, but the 15.9 metered market rating for Game 6 is just too good, according to Nielsen via Demanjo. Since its 2003 broadcasting of the sensational ball game, this year's NBA Finals is named the most successful finals ever both in demo and in total viewership for ABC.

Game 6 of the NBA Finals can also prove its game strong, as it went side by side with HBO's 'Game of Thrones' season finale. According to Variety, Nielsen revealed that 'GoT' got 8.11 million viewers, higher at 14% from both the previous week (7.14 million) and last year's finale (7.09 million), based on "live plus same-day" estimates. Nonetheless, the nail-biting sixth game had audiences at home clench at the edge of their seats.

The game's victors, Golden State Warriors, won this year's NBA Finals opposite Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite having home court advantage, the Cavs were swept by the Dubs with a score of 105-97. Winning this year's best of seven championship series, the Golden State Warriors triumphed with four wins and two losses by Cleveland, reports Al Jazeera. Andre Iguodala was named the Finals MVP.

Dubs is the first NBA team to win a title behind a roster without prior finals experience since the 1991 Chicago Bulls, notes Al Jazeera.

A double cut victory is surely savored by both the Dubs and cable network ABC.
