With "Jurassic World" continuing on its record-breaking pace at the box office, reaching $208.8 million at the week's end, Chris Pratt has become "the Man" in Hollywood. According to a report from ew.com, he is a unique and truly gifted actor of this generation.
Not only is Pratt now well-known for his role in "Jurassic World," he also had a surprise hit last summer, starring as Star-Lord in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy." He started his meteoric rise from NBC's comedy "Parks and Recreation" and has grown massively with his latest films. The report called him "a wunderkind, with the physicality of Tom Cruise, the rugged good looks of a young Harrison Ford and a smart-ass goofy demeanor that's part Bruce Willis, part his own creation."
However, there is another side to the actor and person seen by the media. Unknown to many, during the filming of "Jurassic World" in 2014, he lost his father Dan to complications due to multiple sclerosis while he was on location in New Orleans. According to a report from etonline.com, despite knowing the illness would take its toll on his father, his passing was still felt by the actor.
He said, "I knew, being the lead in the movie, that I was really responsible for everybody's attitude. So I compartmentalized it all and dealt it in m own way, but not openly or people to see. I got pretty angry and got drunk and almost got into a fight with a drug dealer outside of my hotel room."
Pratt describes his father as "old school kind of dad, which in a way is actually a good thing" in his interview with GQ, as quoted on etonline.com. He described it as, "Like, if you have weak hands and you go try to do something, it'll rip your hands up but if you condition them to be strong and you'll get calloused and tough. I think we became that way because, in this day and age, that's what men were. I think we (Chris and his brother) both benefit from it now."
Chris Pratt's net worth is estimated to be $21 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. His film "Jurassic World" is still out in theaters worldwide.
