The suspect in a North Carolina church shooting was finally arrested, CNN reported. The killer was apprehended after a South Carolina resident, Debbie Dills, tipped the local police that she saw the killer. Dills followed the suspect for 35 miles after seeing him inside a vehicle. Dills said in an interview that she'd been praying for those people on her way to work. She added that she was just in the right time and right place.
After Dills' report, at exactly 10:43 am, the local police force spotted the killer's vehicle and was stopped at 10:44 am, to finally arrest the shooter. Local police also said that he was alone in the car when he was arrested. The killer was later named as Dylan Roof, 21 years old, and a native of Shelby, North Carolina.
According to reports, Roof posted as a young man who is very interested to learn the bible which is why he was admitted with arms wide open at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The shooting resulted to 9 casualties, including a state Senator who happens to be one of the historical church's pastor.
In related news, BBC reported that the killing can be classified as a hate crime. The local police arrived at the scene and upon arrival, 8 had been found dead. The other casualty died in the hospital. One of the survivors also told the local police a chilling story about the crime. After shooting 9 individuals, Roof came to one of the church goers and said that he spared her life in purpose so she can tell everyone what happened.
The mayor of the city said in an official statement that the only reason for someone to walk inside a church and shoot people who are praying is hate. The mayor added that they will not rest until justice is served to the victims.
At this point, the 21-year-old killer is under police custody.
