Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are set to star in a new sci-fi movie titled "Passengers." According to Hollywood Life, the two actors will play each other's love interest.
Fresh from the massive hacking disaster last year, Sony Pictures is hoping to lessen its losses by casting Lawrence and Pratt in this big budget film. According to Daily Beast, the production budget of the film is estimated to be more than $100 million. In this movie, Sony hopes to gain the money they lost after high-budget films like "Annie" and "Fury" were leaked last year.
According to Christian Post, Pratt's talent fee rose from $10 million to $12 million after the success of his movies like "The Lego Movie," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and most recently, "Jurassic World." Lawrence, on the other hand, has three additional Oscar nominations and two successful movie franchises ("X-men" and "The Hunger Games") in her name. As of writing, she is reported to get $20 million per film. This deal is similar to Sandra Bullock's deal for the movie "Gravity." According to reports, this was the main reason why the actress has a higher offer than Pratt.
Sony reportedly agreed to the large amounts since Pratt and Lawrence is considered to be a star-studded pairing. Sony is also reportedly looking for higher profits from films since their recent releases like "Chappie" and "Aloha" were met with negative responses in the market.
Sony Pictures Chairman Tim Rothman has approved the movie back in September and the studio is reportedly hoping that it would be met with great success just like its similarly themed movies "Gravity" and "Interstellar."
According to reports, "Passengers" is about a man (to be played by Pratt) aboard an interstellar spaceship who wakes up from 90 years of sleep before his ship reaches his destination. He is accompanied by his fellow passenger, who will be played by Lawrence.
