'Ghostbusters 3' Cast: First Photos from the Set Revealed

The first photos of the all-female reboot of the classic "Ghostbusters" film has been revealed. According to a report from people.com, the photo shows Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon in character and wearing their costumes at the shoot.

McCarthy is seen lugging a "Ghost Trap" or a hard drive while McKinnon is wearing paint-splattered clothes and punk shades. In another photo, Wiig is wearing a scholarly skirt and blazer, just like the librarian in the original film's first scene.

The latest synopsis in this "Ghostbusters" reboot, according to a report from io9.com, reads, "Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U, which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world."

A report from screenrant.com also quoted a Boston.com report, which states that an old high school in Everett, MA was renamed the "Bronx Kuyper Middle School" especially for the film. Furthermore, large signs which read "Higgins Science Institute" were seen hanging above the school's main entrance. Also seen was one of the leads, Kristen Wiig, talking with the director, Paul Feig.

Aside from the four female leads, Chris Hemsworth has accepted the role as the receptionist for the film, according to a report from guardian.com. While Bill Murray tapped Emma Stone to be the receptionist, especially because of her spot-on portrayal of Janine in the film "Zombieland," the actress declined the role, saying, "I think I may need a minute before I dive back into that water," referring to commiting to a franchise after her stint in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
