Grucho Marx's Biopic To Be Directed By Rob Zombie

The biopic of an iconic comedian has taken an odd turn according to Cinemablend. The online movie review website published an article about the surprising move of the producers to tap the musician cum horror director Rob Zombie to call the shots for the movie. Cold Iron producer Miranda Bailey and Rob Zombie has been working together for quite some time but this is the first that the duo will work on this type of project.

It was reported that Bailey has acquired the rights to a book titled Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho's House that was written by Steve Stoilar. What prompted Bailey to tap Zombie to direct the movie is because the oddity of the book, the book detailed some critical information of bizarre tales from the final years of the comic legend.

Zombie said in an interview that he is a huge Grucho fan, he was a fan of the comic legend since his childhood and have read countless books about the legendary actor. He also admitted that after reading the Stoilar book about Marx, he had since a different look on Grucho. The rock and roll musician added that upon reading the book, he took it to himself to bring it to the big screen due to its interesting story.

Variety also said that Stoilar was a good source of the later years of the iconic actor since he had served as the latter's personal secretary and lived with him at his Beverly Hills mansion. Stoilar also spent time with notable persons such as Mae West, George Burns, Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon, S.J. Perelman and Steve Allen.

Marx had a total of 13 movies with his brothers and starred on the hit radio and TV quiz show You Bet Your Life.

Zombie on the other hand is the brain behind the horror flicks House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects and The Lords of Salem.
