New York State Prison Escape Update: Story Far From Over; TV Show in the Works?

Looks like the New York State prison escape saga is far from over. The entertainment company Johnson Production Group is planning to put the story from newspaper front pages to your television sets, TMZ reports.

The entertainment company - the same one behind Baby Bootcamp, Double Daddy, and Teenage Bank Heist -- is planning to film a series chronicling the escape, manhunt, and hopefully the capture of Richard Matt and David Sweat. But, the catch is, they are more interested to telling the story from the vantage point of Joyce Mitchell, the instructor at the facility's tailor shop who allegedly played a major role in the successful escape of the suspects.

Mitchell was arrested and accused of playing accomplice to the inmates and believed to have provided them with contrabands like hacksaws and other tools which the prisoners used to cut through their cell walls and a steam pipe during their escape. She also allegedly had sexual affairs with the two behind bars.

She was planned to provide the inmates' getaway car and escape together with them, but got struck by nerves and backed out on the last minute and ended up admitting herself in a hospital. Further investigation also revealed the three's chilling plot of having Lyle Mitchell killed, Joyce's husband who also worked at the facility.

A rep for JPG told TMZ that telling the story from Mitchell's perspective will pique more interests than one told from that of the escapees. It would be the right story for the female crime thriller market that is starving for material, as stated in a foxnews report.

If it pushes through, JPG is confident they could have the show on air in 5 months, and could easily adapt as the events continue to unfold. As to where it will be shown, the company has ties with Lifetime or Hulu, two companies the group has worked with in the past.
