This week opened with loads of leaked images from "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens," one of which reportedly confirm the return of Nien Nunb and Admiral Ackbar to the franchise. With their return comes fans' question of whether or not Billy Dee Williams' character, Lando Calrissian, will return to the latest sequel as well. Meanwhile, the second teaser of the film featuring Han Solo and Chewie has broken a YouTube world record, and in line with this, the plot of the first spinoff movie "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One" was also recently unveiled.
Now that the return of two characters, Nien Nunb and Admiral Ackbar, has been confirmed for "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" based on recently leaked pictures, fans are reportedly wondering if the character Lando Calrissian will also make a comeback. Lando is a smuggler-turned-selfless leader in the fight against the Empire, which was played by Billy Dee Williams. According to Fashion&Style, Williams was asked if he will reprise such role in "The Force Awakens" during the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim early this year, but the actor's reply was simply, "I really don't know." Fashion & Style thinks, however, that if he is indeed returning for the sequel, it should've been revealed at this point already, though it reportedly doesn't rule out his appearances in "Episode VIII" or "Episode IX."
Meanwhile, the second teaser for "Star Wars Episode 7" (seen below) has broken a YouTube World record, according to Flickering Myth. The Guiness World Records declared the trailer as the "most viewed movie trailer on YouTube in 24 hours," with the video garnering over 54 million views as of writing. According to the Guiness website, the clip showing the return of the hero Han Solo (Harrison Ford) with his co-pilot Chewbacca "has created unprecedented levels of excitement" among fans.
In related news, the plot details of the first "Star Wars" spinoff movie titled "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One" were recently leaked. According to another Flickering Myth report, the film would center on a band of resistance fighters tasked with the mission to steal the Death Star, with the story "darker and grittier" than any "Star Wars," films as cited by JoBlo. The film will reportedly have the look and feel of "an old school war film" and will feature different alien forms, new droids and Felicity Jones ready for battle with matching rebel soldier costume. However, all of these remain to be rumors unless officially confirmed by the film's cast and crew.
"Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" is set for release on December 18. Meanwhile, "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One" will hit U.S. theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
