A Korean boy was shown drinking booze in a nightclub. But no one goes arrested for underage drinking because that boy is actually 26 years old.
Shin Hyomyung, dubbed as the Peter Pan of Korea has a high voice, chubby cheeks, and features of a 12-year-old boy, but his identity card indicates that he was born in 1989.
According to a report by Mirror, Shin took part in a local TV programme which featured him getting dressed up to paint the town red, dancing in a club, having a poster of Scarlett Johansson at his bedroom, undergoing a makeover to make him look older, and having a date with a beautiful woman who can't believe his age.
Shin's amazing secret to eternal youth is accordingly a disease. He has a rare condition called Natasha Highlander Syndrome, a disease that causes his body to age at a very slow rate. This is the opposite of Werner syndrome, a form of progeria that causes a body to age four times faster than normal.
The term Highlander Syndrome, was derived from the TV series "Highlander", which is about immortal warriors who kill each other to gain each other's power and strength.
While the disease is still not recognized by the medical world, there have been earlier cases of Highlander syndrome documented and reported over the Internet.
In 2014, My Daily News reported an 8-year-old girl named Gabby Williams who looked like an infant that weighs 11 pounds. Her parents continue to take care of her as if she is a baby.
Gabby is one of the three people with similar cases of the mysterious syndrome that was featured in a TLC special. The other two are a 29-year-old Florida man who looks like a 10-year-old kid; and a 31-year-old Brazilian woman who looks like a 3 year old toddler.
