Sony Pictures, Paramount, and Marvel Studios have confirmed that they will skip the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego, IGN reported. According to the report, the two major Hollywood giants, Sony and Paramount have recently confirmed that they will not participate in the upcoming event following the prior announcement from Marvel Studios. With that said, it is safe to assume that Sony-Marvel has yet to choose the actor that will wear the web-slinging costume. On the other hand, Paramount is obviously focusing on the Transformers franchise and the release of the Ninja Turtles, which is currently filming, as well as the Star Trek 3 in the pipeline.
Another Hollywood giant Warner Bros. on the other hand will be present on the event and will showcase Jesse Eisenberg, who will play Lex Luthor on the upcoming Superman man film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Lionsgate will also be in the event and will promote the last Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2 movie and Vin Diesel's The Last Witch Hunter.
According to Variety, this is Sony Pictures' second year to miss the world's biggest geek gathering that is made to promote comics, movie, TV, games, toys, and more. Sony Pictures also said that the move is not against the Comic-Con, it's just the movie schedules are not allowing them to join the convention. The report also confirmed that Marvel will skip the convention opting to promote their upcoming new wave Avengers at a special event in October.
On a lighter note, Disney Pictures is also expected to appear in the upcoming event on July 9-12 at the San Diego Convention Center and will showcase their upcoming offering Pirates of the Caribbean and Finding Dory. However, Jack Sparrow nor Nemo were not confirmed to appear in the event. 20th Century Fox confirmed their presence in the event which is why the Fantastic Four and X-Men are expected to show up.
