‘Wayward Pines’ Fox TV Series Trailer & Spoilers: What Happens after the Big Reveal? Episodes 9 & 10 Will Be Huge, EP M. Night Shyamalan Teases; Actors Hint about Resolution for Viewers in Finale

Episode 5 of "Wayward Pines" left viewers in shock with the big reveal that the show and the town is actually set in the year 4028, more than 2,000 years in the future. With it comes the introduction of the creatures known as Abbies, which supposedly have evolved from humans and rule the Earth now, residing outside the town. The latest developments left a lot of questions for the fans: will Theresa Burke (Shannyn Sossamon) discover the town's big secret? How did Sheriff Pope (Terrence Howard) turn up in 2014, and will he meet Ethan and his family again? What's in store in episode 6? Executive Producer M. Night Shyamalan recently hinted details, while Carla Gugino, who plays Kate Hewson, promised viewers resolution in the finale.

In a Fanbolt report, Shyamalan revealed that Theresa, who is the only member of the Burke family left clueless about the situation, will "soon" find out what's going on in Wayward Pines. He said, "She'll find out soon. I can't tell you how and all of that stuff, but definitely." Additionally, as cited by Fashion & Style in the upcoming episode 6, Theresa will uncover a map of unusual plot of land, which she intends to investigate. Will this lead to her own discovery of the town's secret?

Meanwhile, since episode 5 left viewers in a confusing timeline twist, International Business Times reports that "Wayward Pines" episode 6 is set to explain the paradox. Michael Ausiello of TV Line provided his own explanation regarding the scene with Pope: "In that scene, Pope's not in 4028. Yet. Everyone you've met existed in our time/'the past.' But then at some point, as detailed in the next episode (airing June 25), each Wayward Pines-bound person was put into 'hibernation' and eventually awoken in the (distant!) future." With this, the question now is: will Ethan and Pope meet again "somewhere in the time-stream?"

While everything about the show is somehow confusing after the big reveal, Gugino promised viewers a "satisfying resolution" in the finale. According to her, "Episode 10 will give you a significant amount of resolution while setting the stage for a possible future of what's going to happen in this town," as quoted by TV Line in another report. Showrunner Chad Hodge also talked about the finale and hinted a Season 2 for the series, saying, "Could there be a possibility of a Season 2? Sure, of course, and you'll see a window to that, but it also is a complete ending as it is."

"Wayward Pines" returns with episode 6 on June 25. The episode titled "Choices" will reportedly show Ethan getting a behind-the-scenes tour of the town while Kate and Harold (Reed Diamond) plan a secret operation. See the sneak peek below:
