"The Big Bang Theory" ended on such a high note last season so it is only realistic for fans to worry about what will happen to their favorite characters, more specifically, Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki).
In Season 8, Penny and Leonard drove to Las Vegas for their wedding after the two was urged by Sheldon (Jim Parsons) to finally tie the knot. However, while they were on their way, Leonard confessed that he kissed someone else. Penny was dumbfounded over what she heard but she tried her best to keep her cool. The finale episode for Season 8 ended on a cliffhanger that left audiences guessing whether or not the wedding took place.
According to Cross Map, there is a huge chance that Penny and Leonard's wedding will not push through. First, Penny's reaction after Leonard confessed to her the truth was a bit odd. It is therefore possible for Penny to realize a few hours later that the wedding should be called off.
Meanwhile, Cuoco also talked about the future of her character and Leonard's relationship during an interview with Zap2It. According to the actress, it seems that the wedding will not push through this season. However, this does not mean that Penny and Leonard will not settle down in the upcoming seasons.
"Penny and Leonard took so long to get engaged that a wedding to me sounds like in a distant planet. I don't know what the writers have planned," she said.
In other news, fans are also wondering whether or not Sheldon and Amy (Mayim Bialik) will get back together. Last season, Sheldon planned to propose to Amy but the latter decided to end their relationship after she assumed the former was not yet ready to take it to the next level.
Find out what will happen to the characters during premiere of Season 9 of "The Big Bang Theory" in September.
