The newest ride in Universal Studios Hollywood is from the hit movie "Fast & Furious," and the theme park and movie studio has put in a lot of work to create the thrills and chills of the movie. According to the report from fresnobee.com, the result of the collaboration is "Fast & Furious - Supercharged."
The ride provides the feeling of zooming down a street at 120 mph, and the ride will be open to the public by June 24. After weeks of test runs on the ride, it is now ready to be enjoyed by everyone. According to the report, a considerable amount of time was spent on design and testing of the ride to achieve maximum results with the highest safety standards.
"Fast & Furious - Supercharged" creative director Chick Russell had to say this about the ride, "We started working on this attraction about four years ago. One of the great things was that the 'Fast & Furious' films are a Universal property and we get to use it in the park. It's fantastic to get to work so closely with someone from our company."
Much of the inspiration for the ride was taken from the movie franchise itself. According to a report from masterherald.com, the stars of the film appear on the ride, with cameos of Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce and Luke Evans as the bad guy Owen Shaw.
What differentiates the ride from everyone else is the nitrous boost feature, which occurs during the ride without any warning for the rider. While the ride is fast, it is also over quickly.
Rusell added, as reported on ign.com, "That was the huge challenge. You take a tram and try to make it work in the 'Fast & Furious' world. It's like the two opposite transportation systems, but because of our hydraulic motion based and by virtue of the world's longest 3D screen, with this very realistic looking projection image, we found a way to take even the tram and make it feel like it's racing through the city at 120 miles per hour. So that was our challenge and we think we've been able to pull it off."
