Activision to Remaster 'Call of Duty' Series?

Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg, is reportedly considering a remaster of "Call of Duty" series, according to PCGamer. Although there is no solid confirmation yet that it will happen, Hirshberg shared to Game Informer about his plans for a "Call of Duty" remake.

"If done well, I think [remasters] can be great. You talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle. It's always the opportunity cost, meaning we need every body we can get to make the content we're already committed to for our new games. It's always a matter of finding great people to do that work. I would love to play Modern Warfare 1 or the original Black Ops. There's certainly a deep well there. No announcements, but it's something we talk about and think about a lot," Hirshberg said.

Forbes added that the logistics are one aspect of the remaster delay. The new "Call of Duty" releases reportedly require the company to keep the machine running, so there's no one left to remaster old games. However, Activision is said to be on the hunt for other devs to pick up the slack, which is how many other remasters are reportedly often done.

According to Gamezone, it would be nice to see "Call of Duty 2" being remade instead of remastered since the market for World War II games is reportedly a bit dry these days.

In spite of talks about the remastering of "Call of Duty" series, gamers are reportedly looking forward to "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," which will be available for PlayStation 3 on November 6.
