"Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" will return on September 29, according to Marvel. As the show's Season 3 premiere date draws near, various details have been revealed regarding the cast and plot of the show.
Collider interviewed Kyle MacLachlan, who played Agent Dale Cooper in Season 2, if he will return to the series, and the actor said that he is open to return. Regarding his character, he said, "They've left it open. We haven't really spoken about it, so I don't know what to expect. I think they left the door ajar for him. He's still around. He's in a happier place now, but who's to say if that's going to remain that way. I don't know. It would be fun. I would enjoy it."
Cinemablend also added that the character Calvin Zabo, Skye's (Chloe Benett) father, will not be seen in the first half of Season 3 or in the entire season at all.
In addition,Moviepilot revealed some spoilers for Season 3, which apparently include scenes on defeating Rogue Inhumans as well as Hydra. Coulson (Clark Gregg) will also reportedly fill in Nick Fury's role as mentor of Skye. Season 3 may also see additional secret warrior members like Luke Mitchel, Deathlok, Mockingbird and Bobbi Morse (still debatable). New villians may also reportedly come up such as Ward (Taskmaster).
Meanwhile, Comicbook cited the possible role of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the upcoming Marvel movie "Captain America: Civil War." In line with this, Gregg said, "If you've ever read any of the 'Civil War' comics, you'll know that S.H.I.E.L.D. is very much part of a group that's trying to register the superheroes, and that really divides and forces some S.H.I.E.L.D. agents - especially those with connections to people who have powers that can feel personal - to really decide which side of that conflict they're on."
He added, "Iron Man and Cap end up on, in the comics anyway, opposite sides of it. There's always changes in the way they do that in the cinematic universe. I think, with the S.H.I.E.L.D. 2.0, you're seeing some of the first ripples of those different points of view on what S.H.I.E.L.D. should be when it's rebuilt. I'm very, very curious to know which side Coulson will end up on in that struggle."
