Tech giant Apple is reportedly gearing up to release a new iPad with a larger display, which is being dubbed as "iPad Pro," Macrumor reports. Other reports pointed out that Apple's new device will be possibly called "iPad Air Plus," a hybrid name after iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air, respectively.
According to reports, the 12-inch iPad Pro is by far Apple's largest tablet, as compared to iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. The device is believed to share the same features and design with iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3, which have a thin chassis and slim bezels. The rumored iPad Pro reportedly measures 7mm and has a 2 GB RAM, a Touch ID and Wi-Fi connectivity.
According to Macrumor, the new iPad will likely have upgraded features such as an ultra high-resolution display, a speaker, a microphone, a stylus accessory, improved stereo audio experience and a possible integration of USB 30 ports.
Aside from these, a report from Cultmac suggests that iPad Pro will use oxide TFT displays for its next-generation iPads. The TFT display is an energy-efficient technology that uses less power.
Techradar said that iPad Pro is scheduled for release on the second quarter of 2015. Tech-savvy users who are privy to the details said that iPad Pro's production will likely commence in the month of September, which means that Apple won't likely release the rumored device in the last quarter of this year. A Bloomberg report, meanwhile, suggests that the device may be released in the second half of 2015.
