Though Jon Snow may be "dead" in the shocker finale of "Game of Thrones" Season 5, Kit Harington proves that he is definitely here to stay for the fans - in the movies, this time. Variety reports that he has just joined the cast of "Brimstone", Director Martin Koolhoven's upcoming thriller.
Though the previous news indicate that Robert Pattinson (Twilight) would somehow be reunited with Guy Pierce (his co-star in The Rover) in "Brimstone", Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska (Maps to the Stars) were then replaced by Harington and Dakota Fanning (The Runaways) during the production.
Producer Els Vandevorst explained the exit of Pattinson and Wasikowska in Indiewire: "Mia Wasikowska left the film due to unforeseen personal circumstances and Dakota Fanning immediately jumped into the leading starring role. Kit Harington was so consistently passionate about the script that his enthusiasm and total creative commitment made him a must for the role which had been lined up by Pattinson."
Additionally, both actors are set to start production in August for upcoming films, James' Gray's "The Lost City of Oz" and "HHH", a WWII drama, respectively.
Brimstone also casts Carla Juri, who became famous for her role as Helen in the comedy-drama NSFW film "Wetlands". Carice van Houten, the fiery Melisandre in "Game of Thrones", also joins the ensemble.
The upcoming Western flick follows Liz (Dakota Fanning), a young woman on the run from her past and chased by the deadly Reverend (Pearce). Harrington (as Samuel) will play an outlaw.
The film will shoot in Romania, Germany, and Spain. Dogville's Els Vandevorst of N279 Entertainment and Cloud Atlas' Uwe Schott of X-Filme are set to produce. Additionally, Peter Hiltunen of Dragon Films in Sweden, Antonio Lombardo of Prime Time in Belgium, and France-based Violane Barbaroux are the co-producers.
Though there is no actual release date of the movie yet, it is set to hit on theaters next year.
