'The Mindy Project' Season 4 Spoilers & Updates: Fox Series Cancelled But Renewed By Hulu; Premiere Date Confirmed

Fans of "The Mindy Project" have countless reasons to celebrate. Although the sitcom was previously cancelled by Fox after Season 3, it was renewed by Hulu.

According to Cross Map, the series will premiere on September 15. However, it is still unclear whether or not Hulu will release the episodes weekly or all at the same time.

Meanwhile, lead star Mindy Kaling, who also serves as one of the executive producers of the show, previously teased the upcoming fourth season. According to her, there's a reason why she and writer Matt Warburton are both eager to make sure Season 4 will happen.

"We decided we want people who tuned into the show to tune in for two reasons: because we're doing things we couldn't do on network TV, but also not giving up on what people love. And so much of romance comes from restraint, and the things you don't see. I always have to remind myself that a little goes a long way," she said.

Although Kaling said that there will be some changes in terms of the storyline of "The Mindy Project," the funnywoman assured fans that even teenagers can continue watching the sitcom.

"Our show was pretty damn risqué when we were on broadcast TV. If anything, it's like I know that 14-year-old girls are watching the show, and I don't want to show them anything that they're not ready to sort of see," she said.

In other news, there are reports that "The Mindy Project" will introduce a new character in Season 4.

During her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kaling teased, "It's so hard to make friends as an adult woman! In L.A., the only people you meet are women in your spin class. You wonder what the motivations are, but you're so desperate for friends!"

"The Mindy Project" also stars Chris Messina, Ike Barinholtz, Jeremy Reed, Beth Grant and more.
