The gang from Mystic Falls is set to return in CW in October and fans can't wait to sink their teeth into the new season. It was announced earlier this year that Nina Dobrev will not be part of the show anymore. Despite the show losing one of the main characters for the Season 7, fans are still excited on what will happen to the show next.
According to Wet Paint, Annie Wersching will be coming back to the show to reprise her role as Lily Salvatore to give a twist in the romance between Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) also said in interviews that this will be a "sexy" season.
The Season 6 finale featured Elena's (Nina Dobrev) exit from the show, which means the story will no longer focus on the love triangle between her and the Salvatore brothers. According to Kevin Williamson, one of the show's executive producers, now that Elena's gone, the show will have a lot of other stories to tell which are great, epic and emotional and most of all thrilling.
International Business Times also reported that executive producer Julie Plec added that the new season will focus on Caroline, who never really had the best of luck in the past season. In Season 6, Stefan has declared his love for Caroline; however, she told him that she still wasn't ready. Now fans are waiting if there will be more screen time for the couple. Plec also added that Damon will have a hard time coping with Elena's absence.
With the addition of Lily Salvatore and her heretic friends and the problem of loyalty for Enzo (Michael Malarkey), the viewers can expect a lot of chaos in the show's Season 7. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 is set to air on The CW at 8 p.m. on October 8.
