'Assassin’s Creed' Update: Titan to Release Comic Version of the Game

Ubisoft's action-packed roleplaying video game "Assassin's Creed" will have a comic series. This developed after Titan Comics acquired the license to publish "Assassin's Creed" comics, IGN reported on Thursday.

The "Assassin Creed" comic version will be published in a five-part series based on the Ubisoft's "Assassin Creed" game franchise, which popularly depicts the never-ending war between the Assassins and the Knights Templar. The reported development was publicly announced by Titan Comics earlier this week, according to IGN.

"Titan comics will soon expand the realm of 'Assassin's Creed' visual storytelling with the creation of a brand new comic series. We're so excited to be working with Ubisoft on this fantastic new adventure. 'Assassin's Creed' is one of the most notoriously beautiful games on the market, and the team at Ubisoft have created a world that is perfect for us to explore, expand and inhabit with a raft of new characters in new settings. We're really hoping to surprise readers with the direction for this new series," says Lizzie Kaye, editor of Titan Comics, as quoted in a Comicbeats report.

Titan Comics revealed that the "Assassin's Creed" comic series will be illustrated by Neil Edward including the first five-part series of the comics. Titan's Neil Edward was the one who worked on the "Doctor Who: Four Doctors" comics.

The "Assassin's Creed" video game series has been previously featured in the comics world. For instance, "Les Deux Roysumes," in the French language, was published in 2009. Wildstorm has also published a three-issue miniseries of the video game titled "The Fall" in 2011. Meanwhile, UbiWorkshop, the game developer's own publishing organization, has published a graphic novel that was a sequel to "Assassin's Creed: The Chain" series in 2012 and another in 2014, the "Assassin's Creed: Brahman" series.

"Assassin's Creed" video game is reportedly one of the most popular franchises with more than 93 million units sold since its debut in 2007.
