Supreme Court Ruling On Same Sex Marriage Will Impact Realty, Expert Says

Supreme Court's decision on Friday declaring same-sex marriage legal throughout the United States will not only impact the LGBT community but the homeownership business as well. According to Realtor, the CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Sherry Chris, said that the momentous event will trigger key milestones with the homeownership industry. She said that the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community is a powerful segment in the homeownership industry with an estimated buying power of around $840 billion.

In addition, the legality of same sex marriage will only make the $840 billion potential market stronger. With today's increasing home prices and mortgage requirements, two incomes will definitely help the potential homeowners to get and pay the prospect property easier. Also, the executive confirmed that marriage is a big help in convincing lenders to issue mortgages.

Summer Greene, GM of Better Home and Gardens FL said that there would be no more awkwardness, no more joint tenants. LGBT couples will have a less complicated paper work and it is now easier for them to qualify. He also said that the cherry picking states will be totally abolished and will make their lives simpler.

On related news, President Barack Obama said that the recent US Supreme Court ruling is a Victory for America. The US Supreme Court had a 4-5 ruling that gay and lesbian couples have the constitutional right to marry. ABC said, in a report, that the Supreme Court said that the institution, even as confined to opposite sex relations, has evolved overtime.

On the other hand, other prominent people in the American politics have a contrary ideology to the president. Justice Antonin Scalia said that the ruling is a threat to the American Democracy.

In a tweet, President Obama said that the ruling is a big step in the Unites States' march toward equality. Gay and Lesbian couples, he said, now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. He also said that just like all Americans, they are also entitled to the equal protection of the law.
