For the promotion of her fourth book, "Fifty Shades of Grey" author E.L. James did a live Twitter question and answer on Monday. The author of the bestselling erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy was reportedly probably expecting light-hearted questions about the novel's main characters Anastasia and Christian, her writing routines and what she has in store for the new novel. However, instead, the session was filled with intense questions from some users, according to Vanity Fair.
Refinery 29 also reported that the #AskELJames hashtag dominated Twitter on Monday. The event reportedly turned into a disaster as Twitter users posed questions to the author about abuse, rape and acceptable forms of BDSM behavior.
Many users asked the author on why she chose to portray the relationship between Christian and Anastasia to be abusive, and a user reportedly even asked her if she is willing to donate to domestic abuse survivors. Some users also criticized James for her writing style and some "Twilight" fans even joined the group and compared Stephenie Meyer to James. As the tweets flooded, James reportedly patiently stuck with the one-hour session and ended the discussion by tweeting, "Off to meet the competition winners, now. Thanks so much for an interesting hour... :D".
Whatever her bashers have to say to her, James is still worth $58 million as her "Fifty Shades" franchise is still growing. She is also set to release a new addition to the trilogy titled "Grey," which tells the story of the first book in Christian Grey's perspective. She also made millions after the movie adaptation of the first book which starred Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson and earned $500 million at the box office.
