Iggy Azalea On Why 'Pretty Girls' Collab With Britnery Spears Flopped

Uh-oh, blaming game alert! Iggy Azalea explains why her collaboration with Britney Spears did not do as good as it was expected, and she is kind of throwing the 'Baby One More Time' singer under the bus, HollywoodLife reports.

In a Twitter Q&A last June 28, the Australian singer responded to a fan's remark that "Pretty Girls" "flopped a little bit". She explained how it is out of her control and being just the featured artist, she could only do so much especially if there is no support from Britney, who is the main artist. Here's the exchange of tweets:

@rhuancesarr: @IGGYAZALEA even if PG flopped a little bit still getting a lot of views on YT and it's the summer anthem of 2015, so whatever we love you

@IGGYAZALEA: @rhuancesarr its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured...

And when netizens picked up on the matter and blogs began to call her out for her remarks, the 25-year-old artist was quick to double down:

@IGGYAZALEA: @ThePopZone my comment is factual, it applies to any song. I dont have to suck the womans asshole 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls.

With all the fanfare of a reigning song of summer queen when the song was dropped in May, and the supposed exciting collaboration between the two, the song only made it to Top 29 of the Billboard charts and has fallen steadily since, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Azalea and the 33-year-old pop icon gave an energetic performance of the song at the Billboard Music Awards but that was the last of it. This and the pop culture icon being so busy and having no time to really promote the track are Iggy's reasons for saying that Britney is the one to blame.

"I would have enjoyed performing it alot, I think it got off to a powerful start," says the rapper. "but you need content to compete in 2015."

However, despite the song's flop, the music video was on the other hand a hit on YouTube, racking a total of 78 million views and counting.
