President Gerald Ford's Beaver Creek Estate Now Sold

After seven years of being in the market, President Gerald Ford's former Beaver Creek Estate has been sold for $6.65 million. According to Ski Curbed, the home was originally listed for $14.9 million. Despite its luxurious design, the former U.S. president's home failed to find a buyer for its asking price for several years.

In 2014, the price of the estate was chopped to $8.5 million. The home has seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The total area is estimated to be 11,849 square feet, and the property was restored by its former owners in honor of the 38th president of the United States.

The place is decorated in earth tones and creams. The former owners reportedly spent a total of $4 million in 2009 for these renovations. In the entryway, a presidential seal inlaid with granite and stone can be seen. There is also a high-end formal dining area designed with a Marie Antoinette-parquet floor, which is a perfect place to entertain guests. The study room features a floor tile located behind President Ford's desk.

According to Zillow, property records show that the estate was purchased by real estate investor Kevin Hayes in February 2007 for $6.65 million. The $4 million renovations also include a presidential master suite located in the upper level of the home. The room has a commanding view of Creek Mountain and the skiers who are riding the Centennial Express lift. There is also a claw foot fireplace which has an engraved inscription by President John Adams.

According to the home's history, the guest quarters used to house the former president's Secret Service agents. Also, President Ford would reportedly usually fly over the mountains with these agents since he loves to ski.
