MTV ‘Scream’ Series Premiere Recap: Characters Reveal Who The Ghostface Killer Is

It was almost 20 years since the popular movie series, "Scream", filled the theaters with literally "screaming" audience. Now, "Scream" is back, this time on our small screens. Debuted earlier on MTV, "Scream" the TV series was surprisingly good for summer entertainment.

Inspired by Kevin Williamson's horror-thriller franchise, MTV's "Scream" debuted with Bella Thorne as Nina Patterson as the masked killer's first victim. As recapped by US Magazine, the plot goes like this: "When a YouTube video of high schooler Audrey Jensen (Bex Taylor-Klaus) kissing another girl goes viral around Lakewood campus, bad girl Nina Patterson and her ex-boyfriend are brutally killed. The tragic event is eerily similar to a spree of disturbing murders a few years back, when deformed high school outcast Brandon James casually killed a group of classmates in the name of love."

Now the question is: Could the events be connected?

Note: To those who haven't seen the "Scream" Pilot episode yet, major spoilers ahead!

"The Scream" series' protagonist is Emma Duvall (Willa Fitzgerald), a girl-next-door-type who's dating Will Belmont (Connor Weil), the classic bad boy. Emma and her friends were behind Audrey's viral Youtube video and to state the obvious, they all seem to be capable of being the murderer, well, except for Emma.

Who sent the video? Well, that would have to be Nina (the mean girl) and she was immediately murdered in her pool. Now Emma was traumatized by Nina's death so she invited Audrey to a lake party (which was also a wake for Nina). The catch here though is that the resident killer was shot at the exact place years earlier, and his copycat could be back for another round of killings.

Now at the wake when the group's chitchat finally turned to talk about horror movies, Noah Foster (John Karna) talked about serial killers before falling asleep and being dumped at the pier. He was then attacked by a mysterious person underwater, thankfully, he was saved by Kieran Wilcox (Amadeus Serafini), Officer Hudson's son.

Meanwhile, Brooke (Carlson Young), Emma's friend was wandering to her dad's garage when she was also almost got killed by the mysterious attacker.

So who was the Ghostface killer?

"I can promise that there will be a major revelation about the killer's identity by the end of season one," executive producer Jaime Paglia reveals to Eonline.

Carlson Young, who plays Brooke in the series, concludes, "Literally everyone is a suspect on our show. And it changes from week-to-week."

"No one has a completely clean past," John Karna (Noah) says, "No one has it completely straight. You'll see that as the show goes on, everyone has secrets, everyone is lying. So don't expect to have it all figured out at the start."

Willa Fitzgerald (Emma), adds "A lot of the deaths are truly dark and horrifying and twisted. Prepare yourself, because we are not holding back."

MTV "Scream" airs every Tuesdays at 10pm.
