Movie Update: What Are the Reasons Why The Dursleys’ Really Hated Harry? J.K. Rowling Reveals

Remembering 'Harry Potter' movies and the annoying treatment and rudeness of Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia to Harry, why do they hate Harry so much? J.K. Rowling, the author of the great 'Harry Potter' novel revealed.

According to Rowling, the couple Vernon and Petunia was rude to Harry because of the dispute in their family. This dispute started when Lily brought her boyfriend James Potter and introduced Vernon, her sister's fiancé, Express news reported.

"James was amused by Vernon, and made the mistake of showing it. Vernon tried to patronize James, asking what car he drove. James described his racing broom." Rowling quoted.

And it continued until Vernon grew angry because he can't tell whether he was being made fun of or not. And at the end of the day, Vernon and Petunia made a fight at the restaurant while Lily burst into tears and James claimed that he made such a big mistake and promised to make up things with Vernon as soon as possible. But this didn't happened and the sisters' rival has been worsened.

Vernon and Petunia heard the last news about James and Lily when they received a letter before their death announcing that Harry's birth.

According to Metro, Vernon hated Harry simply because he was different, and because of Harry's connection to his father, Vernon hated him more. Aunt Petunia hated her nephew because when she took Harry, she felt that she had no choice and filled the rest Harry's childhood with her rudeness, for her own choice.

The author claimed that the name Petunia is the name that "she always gave to unpleasant female characters in games of make believe she played with her sister Di." and the name Vernon is just a name that she never cared that much.
