Heat Wave Endangers UK

Heat waves have affected the U.K for many years. It is common in the summer years and according to the Met Official Website, "In August 2003, the UK experienced heat wave conditions lasting 10 days and resulting in 2,000 deaths." Heat wave is defined by Met as a "prolonged period of hot weather, which may be accompanied by high humidity." The United Kingdom is used to cool weather and breezy days, and the present heat wave is disrupting the mundane life of the people. As the temperature continue to rise, it gets even worst.

The temperatures are so high it has reached record levels and yet the warning for severe and hazardous weather still looms over the horizon. The high temperature is affecting all forms of life in the UK and BBC news further reported, "The U.K. has seen the hottest July day on record, with temperatures hitting 36.7 degrees Celsius."

With temperature so hot, why is it then that Met calls the public for vigilance and safety measures when the sun is scorching up high? As mirror.co.uk reports "The Met Office has warned the public and emergency services to expect severe and hazardous weather alongside the record-breaking heat."

The extreme weather conditions that poses a threat to U.K should not be set aside nor ignored because torrential rains are on their way. Why do torrential rains follow after a heat wave resulting into floods and endangering life?

It is due to the pressure in the atmosphere. The pressure in the atmosphere is causing an imbalance in the weather system and according to dailymail.co.uk, "It has been caused by weather fronts that have started to move in from the south and the west, which have combined with low pressure and the warm temperatures over the continent." One example was cited by ABC when "Australia experienced a massive heat wave that ended upon the drowning of the east coast of Australia."

With this potential threat, the weather experts strongly urged the public to be prepared because according to a report from mirror.co.uk, "The extreme thunderstorms are set to batter the UK - so severe they could be a danger to life." It won't get better for those residing in the U.K. because as the cool days arrive, the extreme weather conditions will follow. The weather experts urges the public to take heed of the warnings and as mirror.co.uk reports, "Thunderstorms could hit North West, North East, Yorkshire & Humber and East Midlands in England, Strathclyde, Central, Tayside & Fife, SW Scotland and Lothian Borders in Scotland, as well as Wales tonight."

Weather are constantly changing and it will cause a disruption in the daily lives of the people residing in the UK. Being vigilant and constant monitoring is needed as the bad weather conditions threatens UK in the coming days.
