After NBC cancelled its show "Hannibal," recent reports state that its cast members are no longer under contract. According to Deadline, the show stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen are now free agents and are already fielding different film and television offers. In addition, the show is reportedly looking for a new home. If ever it becomes successful in looking for a new network, both Dancy and Mikkelsen will reportedly reprise their roles as Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
Deadline earlier reported that NBC made it official to not pick the show for a fourth season. Despite the show having good reviews and a devoted fan base, according to the network, the drama has been delivering soft ratings. It was said that "Hannibal" has been solid and in demand on social media and DVR, however, this was not enough to sustain the show on a Big 4 net. The network decided to let the show finish its third season during the Thursday 10 p.m. timeslot and the show will still be present at the San Diego Comic-Con as planned.
After the show's cancellation, executive producers Bryan Fuller and Martha De Laurentiis led a campaign to find the show a new home through the hashtag #SaveHannibal. Some are even hopeful that the show will be picked up by Netflix; however, because of the streaming deal they have with Amazon, the show cannot be available in other streaming devices.
According to TV Series Finale, Fuller is now committed to another series called "American Gods" for Starz. It was reported that if ever "Hannibal" will be renewed for a fourth season, the production would have to wait for Fuller to finish his current project. According to Fuller, if "Hannibal" will be canceled for good, the Season 3 finale would also serve as the series finale.
