Less than six months after the release of the hugely popular "Fast and Furious 7," casting rumors for the eighth installment of the film are already spreading. "Fast and Furious 8" will reportedly be getting two villains, with Jason Statham and British actress Helen Mirren joining the cast.
According to Latino Post, the acting legend Helen Mirren is rumored to play a villain in "Fast and Furious 8." In March, the British actress revealed how she would love to do a "Fast and Furious" movie, calling it her "great ambition." The "R.E.D" actress further mentioned that she thinks Vin Diesel is brilliant and would love to join "Fast and Furious 8" partly because of the actor. That and the fact that Mirren wants to be a "mad driver" are her motivations for joining the movie.
Last month, Vin Diesel voiced his support for Mirren's wish, telling Access Hollywood that he is ready to welcome the actress into the "Furious" family. Diesel said, "Of course I would! Who wouldn't? It's Helen. Amazing. Tell her I said so." The actor added, "I love Helen Mirren."
Jason Statham will also reportedly return to "Fast and Furious 8", reports Master Herald, reprising his villainous role as Deckard Shaw. In a recent interview, Statham confirmed that he will be joining the "Furious" family for the eighth installment of the film. The actor further added that he was a newcomer who "just got invited to the party in the last one" and finds it "nice to know I'm going to be doing another," reports U.K.'s Blasting News.
Other stars who are rumored to join "Fast and Furious 8" are Eva Mendes, Cody Walker, Ruby Rose from Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black," and UFC Women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Universal Studios has yet to confirm or deny the casting rumors.
"Fast and Furious 8" is scheduled for release on April 14, 2017.
