Reddit, the front page of the Internet, makes very big headlines in the world wide web as it come under fire after firing an executive, Victoria Taylor, who moderated the very popular "Ask Me Anything" forum containing a series of celebrity interviews where registered users can ask questions and get their answers personally and in real time. In addition, so many Reddit users are unhappy that some of its famous pages were shut down by moderators. These are the pressures that Reddit Ceo Ellen Pao cannot help but face
Previously, CEO Pao has stated, "I mean it when I say we screwed up, and we want to have a meaningful ongoing discussion." Although her statement was sincere, it was not enough to change the minds of those who participated on the change.org petition calling for her to step down, which had gathered more or less 200,000 signatures at the time of her statement.
She has also stated that "Today, we acknowledge this long history of mistakes. We are grateful for all you do for Reddit, and the buck stops with me." Such statement seem to prove that the pressure is taking huge toll on the interim CEO.
Moreover, despite efforts by Reddit to convince its dear registered users that their previous movement to ban some of their popular pages was a means to regulate behavior in forums, the uprising of Reddit users still seem to intensify along with the petition to fire Pao/ More and more users turn on Pao despite her sincere apology and it looks like they would only be happy if she stepped down.
"I don't have all the answers, and it will take time for us to deliver concrete results." Those were one of the powerful closing words of the interim CEO in her statement of apology.
