Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as the Olympic Champion Bruce Jenner, has recently expressed in public her wish to know more about her community and aims to become a character who can best represent it. She stated this after thanking her loyal supporters for their overwhelming acceptance and she also stated how she was moved by their sweet and supporting messages, mails and presents. Impressed by how the members of the community had courageously overcome adversities, she hopes to share and inspire others like her.
In a statement, she said, "Up until now, I have totally isolated myself from the transgender community so I have a lot of catching up to do." Furthermore, she expressed, "I feel such a responsibility to this courageous group to try to get it right and tell all sides of the story. To me, that's always the biggest question: am I doing it right?"
Also recently, Caitlyn Jenner has been involved in a conversation with "Orange is the New Black" star Laverne Cox, who is also famous for being the first transgender to have appeared on the cover page of Time Magazine. Ms. Cox has expressed her support for Caitlyn Jenner and believes that she doesn't need to give her advice. In the succeeding weeks, Caitlyn have had dinner conversations with other transgender women-- a couple of whom had undergone change more than a decade ago. The more she associated with members of her community the more she seemed to gain acceptance. She has also expressed how happy she has been with her eye-opening experiences in the community. She has heard so many stories of hate and survival and she intends to share those stories in her posts to promote awareness that transgender women are just like anybody. She indeed is creating a very big effort to be a part of her new community.
