Motorola Droid Turbo Review: Android Lollipop Update Leads to Battery Problems

The Motorola Droid Turbo has been plagued with battery-related problems after it received the Android Lollipop update. Aside from this, mobile phone users have noted that the smartphone's turbo charging system was likewise beset with the same problem, a report from Techtimes said on Sunday.

Mobile company maker Motorola has released Droid Turbo in October 2014. The Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone was powered by Android 4.4 KitKat. Earlier this month, the Motorola Droid Turbo received the Lollipop update and after less than a week, users encountered slow data issues including other battery-related problems, according to Techtimes.

An XDA Developers forum displayed users' complaints, specifically about the battery-related issues. "I haven't noticed slower charging but my battery life has been awful since the update. If i unplug at 8 am with 100% I have been at 40-35% at 2 pm with only 1.5-2 hours on screen time. Has anyone else had bad battery life?," wrote a user on XDA Developers forum.

Citing from the same forum, another user said, "My battery has been a lot worse too. Usually go a day and half without charging now I have to take my charger to work with me." Meanhwile, another user complained about the phone's turbo charging problem, saying, "It seems that turbo charging turns off at 50 percent battery, previously I think It was around 70 percent."

Motorala has reportedly skipped the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and instead decided to have the Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone. Prior to the Android 5.1 update, users have earlier reported about Motorola Droid Turbo's poor battery life despite the company's claim that it offers up to 28 days standby time and 48 hours usage time, as International Business Times reported.

The Motorola Droid Turbo, according to Techtimes, sports a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution and 565 ppi. The device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz. It has a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage capacity with a 20.7MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.
