When the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 opens later this week, avid fans of "Star Trek" are in for a treat as "Star Trek's" popular communicator device will make its debut during the event. The "Star Trek" communicator device which was a popular props in the sci-fi show will now serve its real purpose, Techtimes reported on Tuesday.
According to Techtimes, the Wand Company reportedly created an exact replica of the "Star Trek" communicator device. The device is powered by Bluetooth technology and can actually receive calls if paired to a Bluetooth-enabled phone. Not only that, the "Star Trek" communicator will also have authentic sounds which were sourced from the "Star Trek" series. It also includes voice clips that are composed of conversation fragments to have an authentic feel and to apparently make it more interesting for avid fans.
Ubergizmo reported that the "Star Trek" communicator, as Wand Company claims, will use a structured-light 3D scanning technology to ensure that it replicates the exact build of the original communicator. The "Star Trek" communicator Bluetooth accessory will reportedly be available for pre-orders for only $149.95 at the Star Trek Shop.
The shipping of the the "Star Trek" communicator Bluetooth accessory will begin on January 2016. It comes with a stand that charges the device and it can also be held securely with an invisible magnetic catch.
In a statement, Chris Barnardo, co-founder of The Wand Company, said via a Mashable report, "With 'Star Trek's' 50th anniversary next year, we were thrilled to be able to make a real working Communicator, something we know the fans have dreamed about owning since it was first used in the show."
